My Yoga Experience
I graduated from the Yoga Studio College of Canada Teacher Training program in June of 2006. Before the first day was done I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up! With the guidance and encouragement of Rob Walker, past owner of The Yoga Studio (South) and Director of the Yoga Studio Collage of Canada I was teaching an All Level Yoga class at the The Yoga Studio South by January 2006! There began my love of teaching and sharing the experience of yoga.
I opened There’s No Place Like Om in 2008. My goal is to create a safe and welcoming home studio that would make yoga accessible to everybody regardless of ability or experience. Classes are small, intimate and comfortable. Come and join in on the fun!
My Volunteering Experience
I spent 4 years volunteering with the MS Society in their weekly yoga classes. It was though that experience that I learned that the trememdous physical benefits of yoga are just a side affect; a wonderful one no doubt, but the true magic is what it does for our soul! It creates awareness of breath, stress reduction, mental calmness and body acceptance. It enables you to move outside of pure emotional responses to unpleasent situations and allows you to handle whatever life presents with dignity and grace.
My Reiki Experience
In November of 2005 I embarked on a journey of healing through the theraputic art of Reiki and completed my first degree in the Usui Shiki Ryoho System of Reiki. At the time I was volunteering with The MS Society and had plenty of opportunity to practice and share this deeply relaxing and healing process of energy work with the students. Thank you to everyone of those yogi's who allowed me to 'lay my hands on them'! In May 2011, I completed my second degree Reiki with the wonderful Vikki MacKinnon.
I believe that yoga is for everybody regardless of your age, size or flexability. Come and join in on the fun!
